The ML8720C is a handheld but highly precise measuring receiver which covers the W-CDMA frequency band from 2110 to 2170 MHz as well as the GSM frequency bands from 925 to 960 MHz & from 1805 to 1880 MHz. It is designed to evaluate radio-wave propagation characteristics of GSM & W-CDMA base-stations for planning, installation and maintenance applications.
The 2nd RF option (option 03) adds a 2nd real 6-finger rake receiver, which enables the ML8720C not only to measure 2 different W-CDMA base stations on different frequencies simultaneously, but also to evaluate the W-CDMA and the GSM network simultaneously, which is very useful for hand-over situation analysis.
The MX872002B broadcast channel (BCH) demodulation software enables the ML8720C to record BCH data in the W-CDMA mode. The information obtained from the Master and System Information Blocks (MIBs & SIBs) allows users to check Node B parameters settings without the need for additional equipment.
When the ML8720C is connected to a GPS receiver, the measured data is correlated with positioning data. The results can be saved to a PCMICIA memory card in .CSV format for further data analysis in the office. Superior field operation is ensured by ultra-low weight of only 4kg, Li-Ion Battery and an excellent color display which make the ML8720C a real stand-alone solution, suitable for on-site maintenance applications as well as for indoor network coverage measurement tasks.
The ML8720C can be integrated in drive test systems as well, using e.g. the NEMO Outdoor drive test software from NEMO Technologies for fully automated network coverage testing.
